HOW TO LOVE YOUR CANDLE

CANDLE CARE

BEESWAX COCONUT CREME WAX BLEND IS A LUXURY WAX THAT DIFFERS FROM OTHER WAXES, AS IT IS THICKER, TOXIN-FREE AND BURNS LONGER.

STEP 1: USING YOUR CANDLE PROPERLY

When burning your candle for the first time, leave it to burn for 4 to 6 hours, until all of the wax has become liquid on the surface before you extinguish it.

  • This will prevent the wax from becoming hollow later on or forming a well around the wick (tunneling).
  • If your candle tunnels and there is wax left around the edges, don't worry, you can continue to release the scent from the unburned wax by placing the candle on a candle warmer.
    • The wax will not evaporate on a warmer as it does when burned, but the scent will dissipate the same as when burned.
  • Never leave a lit candle unattended and never allow it to burn for more than 4 - 6 hours at a time.
  • To extinguish the candle, it is recommended that you use a lid or a snuffer to avoid smoke, splashing of the liquid wax or any debris falling into the wax.

STEP 2: TAKING CARE OF THE WICK

Regularly cut the wick with a wick trimmer to 1/4 of an inch to prevent the candle from mushrooming (big black ball forming on the burned wick when burned too long) and emitting black smoke into the air.

  • Be sure to center the wick in the wax after each use for consistent consumption of the wax.
  • This will also ensure the vessel does not overheat  The sick and flame should not touch the container.
  • Regularly cut the wick with a wick trimmer to 1/4 of an inch to prevent the candle from mushrooming (big black ball forming on the  burned wick when burned too long) and emitting black smoke into the air.
  • Trimming the wick also prevents the wick from falling into the wax, rendering the candle unstable.

STEP 3: RECYCLING YOUR CANDLE

A candle is finished, and should not be relit, when only 1/2 an inch of wax remains in your vessel, or the metal wick sustainer becomes visible.

THIS IS WHEN THE SECOND LIFE OF YOUR CANDLE BEGINS!

  • The container can be kept and used as you see fit - as a flower vase, a brush or pencil holder, a tealight candle holder or for a candle refill (that can be purchased from      The Serendipity House Co at a discounted price) to pop back into your vessel and light it up all over again!
